H.E.R.B.I.E. is a smarter property pick than it might look. A 1978 comics debut, multiple animated runs, and the 2025 film give the character genuine cross-generational pull. More broadly, a buildable companion set puts a team's personality on a shelf rather than mid-battle. It's a format LEGO could apply far more widely across its licenses.

Four from 146 is a meaningful signal, but it's also a defensible one. The Ideas pipeline is already deep: 17 sets in development, multiple competition tracks running alongside reviews. Adding more while earlier approvals are still finding release dates would compound an already crowded backlog. The community will push back, and that's fair. So is LEGO's caution.

The Mandalorian sets dropping in late April was smart for product momentum but slightly muddy for event clarity. When new releases land a week early, the May 1-6 sales window loses some of its urgency as a distinct moment. Worth watching whether LEGO recalibrates the cadence in future years or leans further into the extended window.

A 4+ set as the flagship for a franchise's theatrical debut is a curious choice. Toy Story 3 got a full dedicated wave in 2010. Whether LEGO is holding back more for closer to the June release or treating Toy Story 5 as a Disney theme story rather than a film launch is worth watching.
