Fan castle, space train, Dragon Ball rumors, and a golden logo you'll never own

The hobby's fan-design engine delivers: BrickLink Series 11's five finalists, revealed at Brickworld Chicago, run from a Classic Space cargo train to an Elven Citadel. The 2026 Inside Tour set is a gold-lacquered 1946 LEGO logo worth ~$10k on the secondary market. And Dragon Ball is reportedly in LEGO's 2027 lineup.

BrickLink Series 11's Five Finalists Include the Program's First Classic Space Set

The five BrickLink Designer Program Series 11 sets were revealed at Brickworld Chicago: The Village Parlour, Elven Citadel, Le Petit Bouquet, Royal Nest, and a Lunar Cargo Train marking the BDP's first Classic Space entry. Designers refine with BrickLink through May 2027; crowdfunding opens June 2027. Sets clearing 3,000 pre-orders go into production.

Minty Take

Classic Space in the BDP is exactly what the program is for: a passionate niche with a large enough fanbase to hit 3,000 pre-orders but too specific for LEGO's main line. The 'new things on the horizon' tease from BrickLink is the more intriguing signal. If the program is evolving its format, that's worth watching.

2026 Inside Tour Set Is a 1,614-Piece Gold 1946 LEGO Logo

Jay's Brick Blog first revealed 4000049 Vintage LEGO Logo, the exclusive given to 2026 Inside Tour attendees in Billund. The 1,614-piece build recreates the company's 1946 logo in drum-lacquered gold lettering, mounted on a base with a secret drawer containing printed logo tiles and microbuilds spanning 1936 to 1973. Secondary market pricing opened around $10,000.

Minty Take

The Inside Tour set shows what LEGO does when commercial considerations don't apply. A 1,614-piece love letter to the company's own history, with secret compartments and drum-lacquered gold letters: LEGO designing for itself. The $10k secondary market price says more about scarcity than quality, but the quality is clearly there too.

Leaks Point to Full LEGO Dragon Ball Theme in 2027

Unconfirmed leaks, covered by just2good and Brick Fanatics, suggest LEGO is developing a full Dragon Ball theme for 2027. The IP has had strong fan demand for years. The same source also points to KPop Demon Hunters minifigures and a George Lucas Star Wars minifigure as 2027 additions. Nothing is confirmed.

Minty Take

Dragon Ball and LEGO have been circling each other for years. If the leaks hold, this would be LEGO making a decisive anime bet right as the category heats up: Pokemon is already in LEGO's lineup, and KPop Demon Hunters just launched its first set. A full Dragon Ball theme in 2027 would make anime LEGO a genuine genre.

LEGO's Anime Bet Is Building Into a Real Category

KPop Demon Hunters launched its first set this year. Pokemon Smart Bricks are confirmed. Dragon Ball leaks point to a full 2027 theme. A year ago these read as isolated experiments. Now they read as a strategy: LEGO building an anime presence the way it built licensed sci-fi in the 2000s. Watch whether any of these themes earns a second wave.

The BDP's 'New Things on the Horizon' Is Worth Taking Seriously

BrickLink Designer Program has run for 11 series now, and the format has stayed largely consistent: fan submissions, community voting, crowdfunding. The 'new things on the horizon' tease from Series 11's reveal is the first signal that BrickLink may be rethinking the structure. Combined with LEGO Ideas' growing second-review backlog (28 projects and counting), how LEGO scales its community-to-product pipeline is becoming a real question.

LEGO's Best Value Right Now Might Be the Free Stuff

The Da Vinci GWP is getting reviews that ask why LEGO isn't selling it at retail. The Koenigsegg steering wheel GWP earns praise for its working mechanisms. The 370-euro Helicarrier, meanwhile, got three videos of criticism from Held der Steine. The pattern: this week's most enthusiastic coverage landed on the free sets. That's a pricing message LEGO should hear.
