E.T. Phones Home, But Insiders Days Steals the Spotlight

Today's brief orbits one date: July 7, when Insiders Days opens. LEGO Ideas' E.T. lands with a glowing heart and a pointing finger, priced at $139.99, but pre-order advice hints at holding out for the event. The Sea Serpent GWP debuts alongside it, and reactions to its reveal are already split.

LEGO Ideas E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Revealed for August 1

LEGO Ideas' next set brings Lafabrick's fan-voted E.T. to life: a 1,226-piece poseable figure with a glowing heart and finger that points skyward, arriving August 1 for $139.99. Pre-orders are open now, but Brick Fanatics suggests holding off, a nod to Insiders Days perks landing July 7.

Minty Take

E.T. is the purest expression of what LEGO Ideas does best: take a fan design, keep its emotional core (that glowing heart, that pointing finger) intact, and ship it almost unchanged. Lafabrick's original clearly won its 10,000 votes on nostalgia alone, and LEGO wisely didn't get in the way.

LEGO Sea Serpent 40912 product shot of the built Black Knights ship model

LEGO Insiders Days 2026 Confirmed for July 7-12, Sea Serpent GWP Included

Insiders Days returns next week, and the headline perk splits opinion: 40912 Sea Serpent, LEGO Ideas' redesign of the 1992 Black Knights ship, ships free with $180 orders from July 7 to 12. A second GWP, the LEGO Airplane, unlocks at $100 on City, Creator 3-in-1, or Friends. Sales follow.

Minty Take

A remade Black Knights classic as a freebie should be an easy win, but early reactions want the promise of the concept more than the execution in official photos. GWPs live or die on reveal-day excitement, and Sea Serpent's is arriving more complicated than LEGO probably hoped for its biggest Insiders promo of the year.

Trend Watch

Insiders Days Perks Keep Climbing in Price

Insiders Days GWPs have crept upward for years, and this cycle's $180 threshold for Sea Serpent tracks that climb. The split reaction to the official photos echoes past GWP debuts that looked better in concept art than product shots. If the pattern holds, expect a corrected round of images before July 7.

LEGO Ideas Treats Remakes Very Differently

Same week, two community-born revivals, two philosophies. E.T. keeps Lafabrick's original nearly intact, translation as tribute. Sea Serpent reworks HallowedBrick02's 1992 homage into something Brickset calls a shape change, translation as reinterpretation. Watch which approach LEGO leans on as more Twist of Nostalgia winners reach production.

F1 Collectibles Push Ahead Despite Driver Pushback

Hamilton and Verstappen's criticism of the minicars landed just as leaks point to a second Collectible Race Cars series arriving in 2027. If the rumor holds, LEGO is reading the criticism as noise from within the sport, not a signal from the collectors actually buying the sets.

Ninjago's Anniversary Rolls Out Across Formats

The Ninjago anniversary keeps expanding beyond new sets. LEGOLAND Germany just handed out its second of four exclusive anniversary bricks (Lloyd, following Kai), and a new Image Comics run revisiting the original pilot arrives March 2027. Two more collectible bricks and presumably more nostalgia beats are still to come this season.
